Any form of trauma may have an impact on the physical body, emotions and mental well being unless effectively treated.
Sadly with crime on the increase, the direction of my practise is progressively shifting to assisting more and more people who have been violated by crime of one kind or another. Unlike a few years ago, today we know people in our immediate circle who have been affected by crime.
Being violated can result in many different emotional feelings: shock, fear, denial, anger, rage, depression, exposed or naked, alone or lost, trapped, sadness, grief, resentment, feeling irritated and snappy, guilty etc.
Unless effectively treated, the negative experience and emotions of this nature can be debilitating; often resulting in a detrimental affect not only with one’s inter-personal relationships but also impairing our ability to concentrate, memory loss, both work and sleep patterns are usually affected too. Many people also report feeling disorientated, anxious and fearful, trembling or sweating, having nightmares etc. Most simply cannot stop repeating the heinous event over and over in their minds or completely dissociate in an attempt to ‘deal with’ the unpleasant trauma i.e. denial ... "no, I'm OK!" is a classical response. These are all normal symptoms of trauma.
Last year I also found myself confronted and staring down the barrel of a gun in an unpleasant hijacking. Fortunately, neither my friend nor I were physically hurt though very shaken from the experience. Thank goodness for my understanding of trauma; I was well equipped with various stress release tools to effectively and completely overcome an otherwise very traumatic experience. One of them, EFT or Emotional Freedom Techniques otherwise known as ‘tapping’ is an amazingly powerful stress release technique. Knowing first hand what it feels like to live through such a shocking experience, I’m thus able and more likely to empathically assist others who have been traumatised.
PS: Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) or 'tapping' is now being used very effectively to treat USA War Veterans, many of whom were previously institutionalised as a result of their PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorders). The results have been remarkable; EFT is fast becoming known as the universal healing aid of the 21st century.
If you've been affected by ANY crime the next step is to talk to someone and to this end as part of my service I provide a 20 minute initial conversation. I do not charge for this service as it serves a dual purpose: (a) to provide you with some one to talk to and (b) to establish if trauma counselling may be of value. As I'm often consulting during the day I cannot always take phone calls, please kindly complete the form below so I can get back to you and agree on an uninterrupted time for our private conversation.
- I look forward to being of assistance: bringing you peace and harmony.
