Have you been affected by any of these?
- Accidental death or suicide of a loved one
- Terminal illness
- Struggling to accept the concept of death and dying
- Losing a loved one through terminal illness
- Divorce or affair
The agonising and distressing effect of loss and grief negatively impact on our reality and diminishes our ability to fully engage in our lives.
A sudden or unforeseen loss can have a profound impact on us. To gain an understanding of this impact, please kindly refer to the Stages of Loss as detailed on this website. This loss may be retrenchment or being overlooked for a particular position, partner’s affair or divorce, an accident, physical disability, natural disaster or even the loss of a pet ... whatever it is, loss can be disorientating and cause much trauma, even depression. Even the ‘simple’ loss of a cell phone or set of keys can put one into a tail spin and leaves one reeling!
The untimely death of a loved one always affects us deeply, even though we know that death and taxes are the only certainties in life! I have lost close family members: I know first hand just how painful and traumatic death can be. It shocks one to the very core and leaves us feeling isolated and vulnerable, unable to find even a moments comfort or peace. It is said that ‘time heals all wounds’ but that is not really true; we simply go about life filling the emotionally painful void with other stuff in an attempt to repress the real pain and trauma we experienced as a result of our loss.
As a Hospice caregiver, I’m well aware of how important it is to deal with loss and grief … but also personally too. Twenty two years ago my only brother was tragically killed in a car accident at the tender age of nineteen. Six years later, my mother developed cancer and died within eighteen months. I think she died of a broken heart. I wish I had possessed the understanding and tools. I might have healed myself and helped my mother live longer too. Instead, for many years, I carried the emotional burden without resolution.
Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) also known as ‘tapping’ has been a life saving gift, and as a result I now feel a deep all pervading peace; it has been liberating. This simple yet effective tool has enabled me to heal fully, and now it is my sincere desire to assist other people who find themselves in similar circumstances.
If you have been affected by the LOSS of a loved one OR you're suffering with a terminal illness and would like a peaceful resolution, the next step is to talk to someone. To this end as part of my service I provide a 20 minute initial conversation. I do not charge for this service as it serves a dual purpose: (a) to provide you with some one to talk to and (b) to establish if trauma counselling may be of value. As I'm often consulting during the day I cannot always take phone calls, please kindly complete the form below so I can get back to you and agree on an uninterrupted time for our private conversation.
- I look forward to being of assistance: restoring peace and tranquillity.
PS: If you have not reviewed the report on the Stages of Loss, please do so as this is intended to give an in depth understanding of how we are possibly affected when faced with any loss.
